Peaceful protests which turn violent are never good for spreading the word about the protesters’ concerns. Instead, people marginalize the cause. Oakland protesters need to be very cautious about not becoming extreme or they will lose people’s interests. For example, the number of people viewing the Occupy livestream used to be in the thousands. It’s around 500 as I write this post.

Tonight, NYC is marching in support.

Maybe people just don’t care they are being ripped off by corporations. It is easier to sit and watch TV.

Face the Nation – Obama Abandoning Ship

While being interviewing on Face the Nation, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggests that the President of the United States is abandoning the US by campaigning. Also says “[Obama is a] miserable failure.”

Repeating and emphasizing earlier statements, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday’s Meet the Press once again denounced the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision for unleashing the flood of money now “washing over politics.” Meanwhile he has endorsed Mitt Romney, a politician with two large super-PACs. Is that ironic?

We can appreciate Mr. McCain’s position, though. He has been very consistent on campaign financing. In fact, he supported the 2002 campaign finance law torn apart by the Courts. That court decision led to the creation of Super-PACs.

A problem with our current political system in Washington DC is not just lobbyists – but lobbyists who consider themselves above everyone else. As a republic, we rely on politicians to put the nation above themselves and serve their communities. Instead, we have lobbyists running the country. The biggest lobbyist is Grover Norquist – a man who requires Republicans to sign a pledge.

The only pledge any politician should sign is one stating they will uphold the US Constitution. Otherwise, it’s treason.

In fact, Grover Norquist insists he wants government to be small enough to drown in a bath tub – and that statement isn’t seen as treason. Is he not openly stating a position that the US government is bad and needs to be destroyed?

It’s strange that no one has challenged him legally. But now the man wants to impeach President Obama if the Bush Tax Cuts expire.

NJ What if the Democrats still have control? What’s your scenario then?

NORQUIST Obama can sit there and let all the tax [cuts] lapse, and then the Republicans will have enough votes in the Senate in 2014 to impeach. The last year, he’s gone into this huddle where he does everything by executive order. He’s made no effort to work with Congress.

Nice spin but false. The Republicans have consistently stated that they will not work with the President. More important, our current President has made less recess appointments than Presidents over the last 3 decades. Oops. So much for facts.

Imagine if the two actually discussed specific policies.

Mitt Romney’s debate tactics this week have helped his campaign in Florida. After Newt Gingrich took the wind out of his sails the previous week, Romney went on the attack. Despite Dr. Gingrich getting Herman Cain’s endorsement,  a consensus of polls (by 538) shows Romney will win the Florida Republican primary.

Can something happen between now and Tuesday change this future? It’s happened in the past to other candidates – but since one-third of the Florida voters have already cast their ballots – Romney is probably the winner of the primary and will be the Republican nominee. In fact, Santorum and Paul already left the state to prepare for future primaries.

The Walker supports claim the first year was successful.

- Erasing a $3.6 billion projected 2012-2013 budget deficit.
- 22,000 jobs created as opposed to 150,000 lost in the previous 4 years.
- Paying back the $200 million stolen from the patient’s malpractice fund.
- Paying back Minnesota their owed $58 million
- Creating a $300 million surplus.
